About
Social Playes is an independent editorial index of hotels, organised into four categories that do not usually share a shelf: art hotels, capsule hotels, casino hotels and ice hotels. The grouping is deliberate. Each of the four asks its guests to accept an unusual condition — walk through a gallery, sleep in a berth, share a building with a gaming floor, spend a night below freezing — and each has developed its own conventions as a result.
How entries are written
Every property is written up as prose. We describe the building, the setting and the character of a stay, and we stop where verifiable knowledge stops. There are no specification tables, because a table invites numbers we cannot stand behind, and no star ratings, because a single figure flattens everything an entry is trying to say.
What this site is not
We are not a booking agent and we take no commission on stays. Nothing here is a review in the consumer sense: we do not collect guest feedback, we do not score properties against one another, and we do not rank them. If a property changes materially, the entry is rewritten rather than patched.
Geography
The index is geographically open. Properties are chosen for what they are, not where they are, and the four categories draw from wherever the interesting examples happen to stand.
